The Role:

  • Preparation of Systems Assurance and Safety Assurance management plans for delivery of systems as part of an integrated project
  • Safety Assurance planning and management including Hazard Log and mitigation registers
  • Ability to lead systems engineering and assurance teams on multi-disciplinary major projects
  • Effective workshop planning and facilitation skills to engage stakeholders and achieve outcomes
  • Liaison with design and construction teams for collation and management of evidence and preparation of compliance statements
  • Thorough understanding of relevant systems engineering and safety assurance standards applicable to the rail industry
  • Preparation of Safety Assurance statements and reports
  • Working knowledge of GSN and demonstrated experience in development of Safety Arguments
  • Elicitation and writing of requirements along with competency in requirements management tools (DOORS, ComplyPRO)
  • Working knowledge of SIL assessments of safety-critical systems is desirable

Skills and Experience:

The suitable candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) or equivalent (Post graduate Systems Engineering qualifications are well regarded)
  • Our role levels are based upon an individual’s ability to deliver against key objectives; as a guide an Associate level role requires 10+ years Principal level role requires 15+ years project experience in relevant engineering, rail or transport industries

  • Rail or Transport sector knowledge, including tramways, light rail, rapid transit, mixed-traffic metropolitan passenger and freight
  • Technical expertise across a broad range of projects and across the full systems engineering or project lifecycle
  • Understanding of relevant international and local standards and Victorian rail sector standards and procedures
  • Experience in performing the role of an Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) is well regarded
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • A growth mindset with the ability to recognise and seize opportunities in an uncertain environment
  • The ability to work closely with peers in teams and build strong relationships with clients
  • Performance driven and committed to continuous improvement and a desire to innovate and create value
  • Thrives on challenge and creating progressive and innovative solutions to complex issues
  • Willingness to travel to support the wider national team if required
