Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) is a leading public art museum regarded as one of Australia’s most exciting sites for contemporary art. Drawing upon its location, in Australia's largest university, MUMA is committed to experimental and research-based contemporary art and curatorial practice, with a focus on contemporary art since the 1960s and new artistic tendencies as they develop. MUMA promotes new artistic platforms, histories and exhibition models. The museum is also engaged with international contexts through exhibitions, touring, publishing and public lectures featuring leading international curators, artists and thinkers.
MUMA is the principal custodian of the Monash University Collection, which numbers over 2500 works of art/public art of significant cultural value. The Collection Manager is responsible for managing the Monash University Collection including its registration, displays, inventory, storage and associated research and curatorial work.
The Collection Manager will have a well-established knowledge of the visual arts industry, with professional and/or academic experience in Collection Management and Registration. This position is highly engaged in the cultural life of the University and is committed to presenting dynamic exhibitions and displays of the collection as well as exemplary scholarship.
The successful candidate will have a higher degree in relevant field, extensive experience and management in the relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
