Narrabri is situated 560km north west of Sydney on the Kamilaroi Highway and 560km south west of Brisbane on the Newell Highway. Set against the backdrop of the Nandewar Ranges and on the banks of the Namoi River, Narrabri is an energetic regional centre offering a wonderful selection of shops, restaurants, museums, sporting facilities and clubs and a large array of tourist attractions. These include Mount Kaputar National Park, the Australia Telescope Compact Array at the Paul Wild Observatory and a number of agricultural centres. Just to the south of town is the Pilliga Forest, the largest remnant temperate forest in eastern Australia. In addition, Narrabri boasts The Crossing Theatre, a 1000-seat auditorium and cinema complex of a standard normally only found in larger Australian communities.

Narrabri Shire was named “Australia’s Sportiest Town” by Channel 7’s “Today Show”, as a result of the large number of shire residents who have represented their sport on a state, national and international level. This title is also evidenced by the shire’s large number of ovals and sporting clubs.

Narrabri District Health Service is a 42 bed facility which provides care for the community of Narrabri and surrounding district. It offers a range of services including 24-hour emergency care, Operating Theatre, Surgical, Medical, Obstetric, Paediatric, Palliative Care, Antenatal clinics and outpatient clinics. There are on-site radiology including general X-ray, CT scanner & pathology service.

Rural Midwives and Nurses think critically and utilise their good decision making skills. A period of time in a rural hospital will broaden your clinical exposure and let you use all of your knowledge in a dynamic and exciting workplace where your skills and experience will be utilised to their full potential.

We are seeking an RN/ RM who is confident, resourceful, at home in a team but also able to work independently and is not afraid of responsibility. You may like to consider this as an opportunity to trial a rural lifestyle with a view to relocating more permanently or simply wish to gain exposure to a rural setting.

Accommodation is available in Nurses quarters.

To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be one of the following:
  • an Australian Citizen, or
  • a permanent resident of Australia, or
  • a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or
  • a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia

You can only be offered employment in this role for the duration that your current visa allows you to work in Australia, and you can only be offered ongoing employment if you have a permanent visa that allows you to work in Australia.
