We are currently seeking to appoint a hands-on Health and Safety Advisor for a small mining and mineral processing operation in Cloncurry. Reporting to the General Manager/SSE, this role will be actively involved in ensuring compliance under the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999.
This is a site-based safety role will see the successful applicant working together with the operations team to recommence mining and processing in H2 of 2018.
We are seeking to applicants who are available immediately, though given the integral nature of the position will ensure we select the best person, not first available!
Key requirements include;
- Developing relationships with all stakeholders and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory frameworks
- Site safety inspections and reporting
- Providing advice and recommendations to leaders in regard to their obligations under the Act.
- Facilitating audits and conducting risk assessments
- Investigating incidents where required
- Coordinating the reporting of hazards and incidents according to the protocols of Queensland's Mines Inspectorate.
In addition to the day-to-day safety needs of the operation your exposure to the development of safe work instructions and accompanying inductions of staff and or contractors at an operating mine site will be put to use.
Please note, the organisation will cover the costs associated with people's commute from Brisbane or Townsville. Roster is 9 days on, 5 days off. Salary package will be commensurate with capability and negotiated on an individual basis.
Those candidates who have not worked in a similar capacity on an operational mine site in Australia are unlikely to be considered.
