About the Role
The City of Parramatta is undergoing substantial transformation and growth through investment in large scale public and private projects throughout the local government area. City Transformation is a new, design-led team responsible for providing the City with design leadership on strategic projects such as the Parramatta Light Rail, the Parramatta City River Strategy and the Civic Link. The team works across Council to ensure design outcomes meet the City's vision and objectives.
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Design Manager. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for implementation of significant public projects from strategy through to detailed design and delivery. This role will manage collaborative, design led processes to seamlessly integrate strategy, planning, technical investigations and stakeholder engagement to achieve outcomes consistent with Council’s Major Priorities and Strategic Objectives.
The successful candidate will have project management experience and a background in urban design, landscape architecture or architecture; together with the following skills and experience:
- Operational experience in a related field (typically greater than 7 years)
- Ability to plan, manage and implement the delivery of public projects from strategy, through all phases of design.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage workloads to drive outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience appointing and managing design and technical consultants
- Demonstrated high level application of analytical, creative thinking and problem solving skills in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in leadership, coordination, negotiation, teamwork and consultation, with experience in community and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to seek, analyse and evaluate customer needs and integrate them into the delivery of successful outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
