Permanent, Full – Time, 70 hours per fortnight
Salary Range = $79,725.83 - $100,666.91 per annum (subject to skills and experience)

The Business Unit

The Natural Environment & Climate Change (NECC) Group manages complex environmental and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and environment of the Northern Beaches. The Natural Environment & Climate Change Business Group delivers the strategic and operational management of:
  • Bushland protection and restoration including threatened species and invasive species management and the control of bushfire risk
  • Catchment, waterway and coastal management including ecological, risk and restoration programs
  • Strategic environmental systems & programs, development assessment, climate change adaptation/resilience and corporate sustainability
  • Environmental education, volunteering and engagement
  • Development engineering including subdivision works, development approvals, co-ordination of s94 works delivery and certification of development works
  • Stormwater asset maintenance and renewal
  • Floodplain risk management
The Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Team Leader, Stormwater Design and Delivery, the role of the Stormwater Engineer, Delivery is to is to plan, design and implement the timely and efficient delivery of Stormwater Capital Works. The role is also required to support the Stormwater & Floodplain Engineering Team in the strategic management of Council’s stormwater assets and respond to relevant customer requests.
The range of tasks includes analysing drainage issues using modelling as required, overseeing detailed drainage designs, undertaking interpreting asset condition data, prioritising works, scoping projects, assisting with writing and administering contracts and supervising works. The Stormwater Engineer, Delivery is expected to be innovative in their approach to these tasks and is expected to have experience in project management matters and/or asset management. The Stormwater Engineer, Delivery will have a delivery focused approach in assisting the team to manage these assets and be innovative in solving complex stormwater problems and in procurement approaches that maximise quality outcomes and produce ongoing efficiencies.
  • Develop and implement detailed program of ongoing renewal of Council’s stormwater network that is prioritised against risk and condition.
  • Be responsible for the management of complex stormwater management projects for Council, including scoping and proposing projects, writing and administering contracts, strong financial control, coordinating consultants, and supervising works with strong project management and excellent work practices

Selection Criteria
  • Degree level qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in Stormwater Management including water quality controls, detailed design (including associated modeling) and works supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with the development and implementation of business plans including budgeting, cost control, performance management and monitor and report on service outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience of construction, contract and project management relating to stormwater asset including scoping, quality design, determining project resources, budgeting processes, report writing and project delivery
