Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Systems Accountant to join our Finance Department.
Details of Department
The Finance Division is one of six divisions reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The Division provides a comprehensive range of financial, supply, and retail services to Austin Health.
The position resides within the Finance Department.
Details of position/position requirements
Develop and improve financial systems and processes within the Finance Department and across the hospital.
Assist in the development of policies, controls and procedures relating to the hospital’s financial information systems.
Work with staff in the Finance department to identify and implement process improvement. This may involve:
Changing manual processes,
The implementation of new system or modules within a system,
Modifications to an existing systems configuration to improve the process,
Working with staff external to Finance as part of the change process.
Provide financial information support to the hospital’s information system projects.
New user setup, maintenance and configuration of systems.
Identify and resolve issues relating to the finance systems in a timely manner.
Support and train hospital staff in their use of Austin’s Finance systems.
Perform other duties as required from time to time at the direction of the Manager.
To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:

Relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, business, finance or accounting.
Sound working knowledge of ERP Systems (including GL, AR, AP and Inventory modules), processes and configuration.
Minimum of 3 -5 years accounting experience.
Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to develop innovative solutions to problems under tight timeframes.
A good understanding of System Integration principles and process.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Ability to prioritise workload.
Demonstrated experience and advanced computer skills in a Windows environment.
Desirable but not essential for Performance in the Position
A sound understanding of information technology including clinical systems, applications relevant to the Management of rostering and risk management reporting or as required for the role and/or department.
An understanding of the Victoria public health sector.
An understanding of Structured Query Language and Crystal Reports.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics – GP, PBRC (Power Billing Revenue & Collection), MagiQ Reporter.
