Senior Research Fellow Social Data Analytics Jobs Vacancy in Swinburne University Technology Melbourne Jobs Details:
A Senior Research Fellow will understand social science and have interest in current and emergent societal challenges (e.g. impacts of social services reform and impacts of automation, AI and IoT in relation to Industry/Society 4.0); and competencies and experience in data analytics techniques and data science. We are open as to specific research focus. It could involve spatial data analytics, social media analytics and/or working with IoT data.
We are particularly focused on further developing our Social Data Analytics Hub which comprises access to social and related data-sets and enables data linkage and application of analytics techniques across data-sets. Using the Hub we explore projects for government, industry, community, NGOs and infrastructure project partners, for example to: establish social attitudes, social impact and social outcomes; explore and understand causal pathways of social conditions; evaluate social data collection systems; and inform development of social data collection. We are particularly interested to apply the Hub to understand emergent impacts of Industry 4.0.
A Senior Research Fellow will work as part of a growing multi-disciplinary team of social scientists, data scientists, developers, communications experts and social network analysts led by Prof Jane Farmer, Director of the Social Innovation Research Institute – and partnering with the Swinburne Data Science Institute, led by Prof Timos Sellis.
As well as contributing to Hub development and working on industry and community-generated research projects, a Senior Fellow will build on their existing research record to develop a theme within social data analytics.
A Senior Fellow in social data analytics will require to be comfortable in an interdisciplinary team, in interacting with industry, community, and NGO partners. The primary expectation of the position is to make original and innovative contributions to the advancement of research in the field. In addition, the position-holder may undertake some teaching as appropriate.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- An earned doctoral qualification in an area appropriate to the role – e.g. in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, GIS or related area using complex computer science techniques in analysis.
- Prior proven significant research experience in complex data integration or large scale data mining, in addition to a proven involvement in at least one of the following: indexing techniques, algorithm engineering, machine learning, real-time data.
- Previous experience with software development for large projects and manipulating large data collections.
